This is a truly amazing event. A whole
lotta tuba (and other tuba-
ish instruments) players gather every year to play Christmas music. It's really
friggin awesome because the tuba is usually in the background, but here they play the melody (take THAT saxophone!). I know about this event because my dad plays the tuba and participates every year (he even bought a hat and puts a different button for every year on the hat). I tried to play last year (I play the baritone (a mini-tuba), along with the piano and bass guitar), but failed
miserably. I'm pretty sure Tuba Christmas is international, but I'm not sure. Oh, and if you follow some other religion or are an atheist, so what!? You can still enjoy the music and the general happy atmosphere of Tuba Christmas, and if you REALLY want, you can call it Tuba
Hanukkah or Tuba (that one's for atheists) or Tuba WHATEVER! This year, Tuba Christmas is being held at
Larimer Square in Denver, but if you live somewhere else, you can find your location
here.
That site also has lots of other information about Tuba Christmas on it. I strongly suggest that you ALL go to Tuba Christmas at some point in your lives, it's really a nice thing.
